From Bali to Jember

Two main options for getting to Jember from Bali:

By travel: Travel is a van charter service. The van picks you up from your house or hotel and drops you at your exact destination, which is why it is so convenient.

Cipaganti Travel is a good Travel agency to use if you want to go to Jember from Denpasar. Each seat on the travel van costs 140,000 rupiah. The fare for the ferry is included in that. The charter van leaves at 7 o'clock every evening from both Denpasar and Jember. It arrives at around 5am in the morning.

Cipaganti Bali: Jalan Teuku Umar 239. Phone 0361. 885 1234
Cipaganti Jember: Ruko Harmoni Jalan Hayam Wuruk 178C. Phone 0331. 412 612

By bus: Take a bus from the Denpasar Bus Terminal with a Surabaya destination. The buses going to Surabaya will always go through Jember. A ticket is less than 100,000 rupiah, but doesn't include the ferry fare. Make sure you buy tickets in an official bus locket or from an official ticketing officer, or else you will be charged too much for the ticket. When you buy the ticket, tell the seller that you are going to Jember, not Surabaya.

BBJ Trip 2009!

The month of August is officially the “Month to Visit Jember” (Bulan Berkunjung ke Jember) in Indonesia. To celebrate, members of Couchsurfing Jember are organizing a trip to explore the natural, agronomic, social, cultural, and gastronomic highlights of Jember Regency.

There are two versions of the trip: for those who have lots free time, we are organizing a week-long trip; for those with responsibilities in school, work, and family, we are organizing weekend trips throughout the month of August. The week-long trip will run from the 2nd to the 9th of August; weekend trips are on the 1st-2nd, 8th-9th, 15th-17th, 22nd-23rd, 29th-30th.

The tentative schedules of the Weekend Trips are still being created. The tentative schedule of the Week-long Trip is not finalized and may still undergo some changes. Check back for more updates!
